In July, two of Juhi Chawla’s films completed over two decades. While her Yes Boss with Shah Rukh Khan finished 21 years, Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke with Aamir Khan completed 25 years. Ask Juhi about it and she laughs, “I have never thought about it. My PRs tell me to tweet something and I do.” On a serious note, the actress reflects that she can’t believe so many years have passed. “To tell you truthfully, I haven’t watched 95 per cent of my work. Maybe, I have seen a film once at a preview or in a theatre, but never revisited them. For me, it’s a mixture of amazement and disbelief that I did all this work,” she says.
Would she like any of her films to be remade today considering remakes are a rage now? “Maybe Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. When we made the film, the media was just beginning to explode, it was too early to talk about channel wars, TRPs, etc. There was so much behind-the-scenes politics, about politicians etc, that probably people didn’t get the nuances at that time. But it makes so much sense today, I think that film ought to be worked upon now,” elaborates the actress.
