Amy or Amyra Dastur was born on 7 May 1993 in Mumbai, India into a Parsi family. She has always dreamt of her career in films and is happy doing it. She is an introvert and a shy person.
Prince Mahesh Babu’s sister Manjula is all set to direct a film. It will feature Sundeep Kishan as male lead. Buzz is that, Manjula has signed bollywood actress Amyra Dastur to play the female lead. The movie is under pre-production and is being bankrolled by Gemini Kiran.
Amyra will also play lead role opposite Vishnu Manchu in upcoming movie ‘Aachari America Yatra’. It will be directed by G Nageshwar Reddy.
Amyra Dastur made her International debut opposite Jackie Chan in Kung Fu Yoga. The movie is directed by Stanley Tong. It is a Chinese-Indian co-production of Taihe Entertainment, Shinework Media (China) and also starred Disha Patani, Aarif Rahman and Sonu Sood.
When asked about the story behind her name, she said, “I was named after my paternal grandmother, my dadi. She died before I was born, which is why my parents named me Amy. My dad’s side of the family was very poor while growing up, but my dadi raised three kids, got my dad through medical school, sent my uncle to America where he wanted to work and helped my aunt become an accountant, because that’s what she wanted to do.”
