Exclusive | Katrina Kaif: I want to play Indira Gandhi! – Katrina Kaif, who made her debut in 2003, will soon complete one-and-a-half decade in the film industry. Over the years, the Bollywood diva has been part of several big-budget projects.

However, there’s one genre that she’s never really been part of — biopics.

ON MY WISHLIST
Katrina says that she’s itching to do one. “I am extremely keen on doing a biopic. It’s exciting for any actor if the film is written well. There are so many stories that are waiting to be told,” she says. Though she has been offered a few projects, none of them have worked out. She adds, “I haven’t really been offered that many biopics and I didn’t like the ones I had been approached for.”

A FASCINATING ROLE!
But, she has a personality in mind whom she wants to portray on screen. Kat reveals, “I would love to play Indira Gandhiji on screen.” Vidya Balan was offered a film on the slain politician, but it couldn’t materialise as the director was unable to get the necessary permission from the Gandhi family. As of now, a film on India’s first woman Prime Minister isn’t on the cards. So, it looks like Kat may have to wait for a while. Previously, Katrina played a character in Prakash Jha’s Raajneeti, which was loosely modelled on Sonia Gandhi. Speaking about why she wants to play the late former PM, she says, “What a fascinating person she was! It’s not about idolising someone, but she would be an interesting character to play on celluloid. She was someone who commanded power and grace in equal measure.”
