Richa Chadha in talks to star in a South African web series based on cricket – After impressing viewers with her performances across formats, actor Richa Chadha could be taking up an offer from a South African television show.
Having established herself as a bankable Bollywood star, actor Richa Chadha has been exploring different mediums of filmmaking. The actor has now been offered a South African web series.
“After the makers saw Richa’s performance in a web series, they offered her a web series based on cricket, which is popular in South Africa, too. Director Danie Hogan has approached her and the actor is still in talks with her team,” says a source.
Discussing the viability of the digital platform, the 30-year-old actor says, “Digital entertainment has been emerging globally and after the positive response to web series across platforms, of late, I would love to explore digital content. There are other projects that have come my way, and I am still discussing it with my team.”
Richa, who has been a part of comedy videos and socially-relevant content, is never intimidated by uncharted territory, but she says that the fear of going wrong, exists.
“I have seen people not liking my work in Masaan and yet others saying it was my best performance. There will always be diversity of opinion. You can’t keep everyone happy,” she says.
The actor, who will next be seen in the sequel to Fukrey (2013), feels that television as a medium has its own advantages. “I think television is like a breath of fresh air. There is less [need for] caution and a lot less politics,” she says.
