She was born in a Punjabi family in Haldwani, Nainital in undivided state of Uttar Pradesh but was brought up in Amritsar, Punjab. She was single handedly brought up by her mother, Parmjit Kaur after her father late Baldev Singh Mann, the editor of ‘Hirawal Dasta’ was gunned down by militants in the 80’s. Sonia is a graduate in B.Sc (IT).
Sonia’s fascination towards acting started from her childhood where she would act and perform in front of her family and friends without batting an eyelid. She started participating in school dramas and later graduated to theater in Amritsar.
Some of her favourite hobbies are reading books and novels and watching movies in various languages especially Hindi, English and Punjabi. She is a social activist and active on social media platforms and makes sure to keep her fans and followers updated.
