Swara Bhaskar is an Indian actress who works in the Hindi film industry. Bhaskar made her film debut with a supporting role in the 2009 drama Madholal Keep Walking. She rose to fame for her supporting role of a bride-to-be in the commercially successful romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu (2011). She received widespread acclaim for portraying an aggressive lover in the critically acclaimed romantic drama Raanjhanaa (2013). In 2013, she played the lead role in Listen… Amaya. She then played supporting roles in the romantic comedy Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) and the romantic drama Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015). Swara Bhaskar family hails from Delhi, the same place where she was born and brought up. Her father Chitrapu Uday Bhaskar was from Andhra Pradesh and was a Naval Officer. Her mother Ira Bhaskar is from Bihar and a professor who teaches about Films in JNU. Although her father being a strict person was adamant of her decision for becoming an actress, her mother was thoroughly supportive. This may be because she was already teaching ‘films’ as a subject. But at the end, her parents were very supportive towards her decision of becoming an actress and now they’re very proud of her daughter’s achievements.
