Actress Swastika Mukherjee lived a “self-styled simple life”. Her favourite films were Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music. She got married at a very tender age of 18, but was broken within two years of span. Her husband singer Pramit Sen, used to harass her and lock her in a room when she was pregnant. Later a case was filed on him because of his inhumanity. According to Swastika, Pramit filed for divorce in 2000, but changed his mind later when she became successful in her acting career. Swastika Mukherjee is a smashing Bengali actress, who was born on 13 December 1980 in Kolkata. She has done her schooling at Carmel School, Kolkata, St. Teresa School and Gokhale Memorial School. She first started her acting with the tele-serial Devdasi. Later made her debut in 2003 with the film “Hemanter Pakhi”. Her first lead role was with Ravi Kinnagi in movie “Mastan”. In 2001 she enrolled at the Ananda Shankar Centre for Culture, learning dance from veteran Tanushree Shankar. She was recently seen alongside Sushant Singh Rajput in Detective Byomkesh Bakshi movie.

Swastika Mukherjee after her education worked on a history degree at Jadavpur University. During that time, she was spotted by the director of the TV serial Devdasi and enrolled her in his serial. This was the first step for her carrer building. She later went on to appear in other serials like Akasher Niche and Protibimbo. In 2003, she first appeared in the movie Hemanter Pakhi in a small role. Her first lead role came with Mastan directed by Ravi Kinagi. Mukherjee has recently appeared in Bye Bye Bangkok and made her Hindi debut in the anthology film Mumbai Cutting. Currently, she is roped in YRF’s film Byomkesh Bakshi in main lead.
